Heparin Sodium (2 units/mL) in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution prepared from Heparin Sodium USP (derived from porcine intestinal mucosa and standardized for use as an anticoagulant) in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection. It is to be administered by intravenous injection. Heparin Sodium Injection in 0.9% Sodium Chloride at the concentration of 2 units/mL is indicated as an anticoagulant to maintain catheter patency.
